About me

The earliest memory I have designing something was in fifth grade. I must have shown signs of artistic ability because I was assigned the task to design wooden barrels out of construction paper to decorate our homeroom door. Why wooden barrels? I have no idea. I think it had something to do with what we were learning or some activity. From there, my elementary design career skyrocketed to bigger things, like teacher’s chalkboard writer, to creating yearbook cover designs.

Not including those very influential years, I’ve been a professional designer for over 20 years. I’m a Magna Cum Laude graduate from The Ohio State University where I received a BS in Visual Communication Design and spent time in a foreign exchange program in the land of Bauhaus design—Switzerland. Since then, I’ve spent the majority of my time in the agency/communication-world designing for mom-n-pop shops to Fortune 500 companies. My six-year tenure as Graphic Artist with Northeast Ohio’s local public media organization, ideastream (WVIZ/PBS, 90.3 WCPN and WCLV Classical 104.9), positions me as a creative leader and producer of community-driven missions. While at ideastream, I promoted and supported campaigns, programs, services and events through multiple media—print, email, TV, mobile and web.

I now lead my own graphic design business, Maykah Design, from my home in North Olmsted, where I continue to consult for a variety of clients that look for my expertise in branding, print, environmental, web, and user interface design.

I’m defined by my Filipina heritage, my family, baking, my new-found love for cats and my passion for good design in everything.

If that’s not enough, contact me.
